On Wednesday, the Prince George’s County Local Development Council (PGCLDC) announced its plan to extend the new grant program deadline to May 15, 2017 at close of business (5 p.m.). The grant program is designed specifically for nonprofits, so they can extend their community-based services and programs within the three-mile radius of MGM National Harbor.
Nonprofits working in the impact areas are urged to apply for funding before the deadline. Facsimile and email application will not be accepted and all applications that are submitted after the deadline will not qualify for competitive view.
Prince George’s County lawmakers developed the Local Development Council by state law as a means for making sure the public is involved and has a say about how the government keeps the negative impact of a new gaming facility to a minimum. According to Maryland law, jurisdictions with an active gaming licensee in operation are required to create a local development council.
Applications can be hand delivered to the County Administration Building in Upper Marlboro.
