Howard County Police Arrest Suspect Following Brief Pursuit

Howard County Police say an adult male was arrested for possession of crack cocaine after brief pursuit.

Approximately 10:05 a.m. Saturday, a police officer was attempting to conduct a traffic stop, when the vehicle fled from the scene. A short time later, the vehicle came to a stop and the suspect fled on foot.

ArrestPolice canvased the area and located the suspect a short time later. Twenty-three-year-old Garland Leon Stewart of Oakland Place in Columbia was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, drug possession with intent to distribute, multiple traffic violations and disorderly conduct.

Approximately 11:49 a.m. Friday, police were dispatched to a Wal-Mart in the 3200 block of North Ridge Road, where a suspect attempted to purchase merchandise with counterfeit money.

Upon arrival, police determined the money was counterfeit and immediately arrested the suspect who was identified as 20-year-old Nader Hosseini of Tamar Drive in Columbia.

Hosseini was charged with obtaining goods with forged currency and possessing forged currency.
