Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains found by hiker on Thursday. The remains were in a shallow grave north of Frederick Municipal Forest.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office confirmed that the bones were human, according to a Frederick News-Post report.
Initially, the sheriff’s office was going to wait until a forensic anthropologist confirmed the bones were human, but excavating the site further it was determined that they were “clearly human,” sheriff’s office spokesman, Tim Clarke, said.
Since the remains are severely decomposed, making identification will not be easy.
