Havre de Grace Police are investigating a theft involving two men who represented themselves as employees of a company doing emergency work in Havre de Grace.
Police responded to the 100 block of Francis Street, where an elderly man reported a suspicious male who lured him from his residence. At the scene, the man told police that an unknown male knocked on his door and said his company was performing emergency work that required the removal of a fence in the rear of the man’s home. The man accompanied the subject to his backyard, where his residence was no longer visible.
The man said the subject was communicating with another person on a two-way radio. He said he believed the subject was speaking Spanish. The subject left the man in his yard and never returned, according to the news release.
A search of the man’s home yielded cash and other items missing. Police believe another suspect exited a dark colored truck that backed into the man’s driveway and entered the home, while the man was taken to the backyard. The man told police he hired a company that was going door to door to repave his driveway.
Havre de Grace Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the crime to call 410-939-2121.
