Local personality, Lou Catelli, is highly known for his short shorts, eccentric style and his love for the community. Lou primary transportation is an adult tricycle, which was stolen on Sunday near the Hampden Family Center.
The stolen tricycle prompted a community-wide search by police and residents. The center’s surveillance camera showed a man wearing a yellow vest manipulating a “Kryptonite U-bolt lock” as described by Catelli, with bolt cutters until the tricycle was freed from the bike rack.
Will Bauer, Catelli’s real name, said he wasn’t for sure his “beautiful oiled-up pink” tricycle was gone until some time Monday. He filed a police report after viewing the center’s surveillance footage on Tuesday.
Catelli said he was lucky that the tricycle “just does not blend in well. It stands out like a sore thumb.”
Local shop owners have also pitched in to help by providing videos and conducting their own searches.
After linking the provided videos together, the man could be seen riding the trike around the city.
A video provided by a reddit user shows the trike being ridden on Braddish Avenue, Gwynn Falls Parkway and in proximity of the Mondawmin Mall.
Catelli posted the surveillance footage and comment saying: “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.
“Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my tricycle go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you and I will citizen arrest you.”
