Union Craft Brewing is preparing to start construction on Union Collective, the Medfield warehouse, converting the space into a brewery, taproom and retail space. The company recently received its stadium license, the last hurdle to move the project forward.
The first tenant to be announced to open a business at Union Collective will be Earth Treks Climbing and Fitness. The company will open the 20,000-square-foot indoor climbing gym in 2018.“Our goal in developing Union Collective is to do our part to make our city a better place to live, work and play in,” Adam Benesch, co-founder of Union Craft said in a state. “A Key aspect of that mission is to retain existing growing business already in Baltimore, as well as attract new ones to move to the city for future growth.”
The gym will feature a yoga studio and pro shop, along with designated areas for cardio, training and fitness. With over 10,000 square feet of bouldering terrain, patrons will be able to enjoy indoor rock climbing without the need for harnesses and ropes.
The company has a total of five climbing gyms in Colorado, Virginia and Maryland, but this will be its first in the Baltimore area.
“Earth Treks has served Baltimore-area climbers since 1990 and we are thrilled that at long last we’ll be opening our first gym in the city,” Chris Warner, Earth Treks founder and CEO said in a statement.
