Baltimore Police Announce Arrest In Fatal Shooting At Dollar General Store

Baltimore Police identify and arrest suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of a Dollar General manager Tuesday. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Michael Thompson.

Thompson allegedly entered the Dollar General in Edmondson Village before the store was scheduled to close at 10 p.m. After shooting Deric Ford, 54, a father of 12, he fled the scene. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Additionally, Thompson has also been charged in connection with an April fatal shooting on South Calvert Street, police said. The victim in that shooting was identified as Michael Scoot, 33, of the 2400 block of Druid Park Drive. Police said Thompson killed Scott, because “he felt disrespected.”

The same gun was utilized in both killings, police said.
